Dear Parents and Guardians, The Physical Education Department believes that regular physical activity contributes to enhanced health and well-being, proper body function and is important throughout a person's lifetime. In keeping with this philosophy, District 68 has implemented the use of a physical fitness assessment program called TriFIT.
TriFIT provides you and your student with an overview of their current physical fitness levels. The components of health and fitness that have been measured are: aerobic capacity, muscular strength, endurance, flexibility and sport agility. The following tests are given in the Fall and Spring trimesters:

TriFIT provides you and your student with an overview of their current physical fitness levels. The components of health and fitness that have been measured are: aerobic capacity, muscular strength, endurance, flexibility and sport agility. The following tests are given in the Fall and Spring trimesters:
- One Mile Run/Walk: To measure the ability of the heart and lungs to maximize the use of oxygen by fastest time to cover a one-mile distance.
- Curl-ups: To measure abdominal strength and endurance by maximum number of curl-ups performed in one minute.
- Shuttle Run: To measure agility by performing the shuttle run as fast as possible.
- Pull-ups: To measure upper body strength and endurance by maximum number of pull-ups completed or Flexed-arm Hang: To maintain the flexed-arm hang position as long as possible.
- Sit and Reach: To measure flexibility of lower back and hamstrings by farthest distance reached.
- Shoulder Flexion: To measure shoulder girdle flexibility by touching fingertips together behind the back by reaching over the shoulder and under the elbow.
- Trunk Lift: To measure trunk extensor strength and flexibility by lifting the upper body off the floor using the muscles of the back.
